Heh all,
A few weeks ago I had found two 14 K gold rings (one a weekend). Since then the only thing I have found is several dollars worth of clad.
I normally hunt on land with my M 6, but decided to give the Sand shark a try right before dark in stream coming out of a lake by a park where I found my only other silver coin-a 1923 Mercury dime. I was in for only a few minutes because the mosquitos came out and started attacking me. Well, I finally found my second silver coin! A silver, 1913 1 Franc! (First signal!) No idea how it got there but I sure had to work to get it out-it was about 4-5 inches down in a rocky bed, and the area goes back to about 1890. The coin is in pretty good shape-quite surprising. I'll try and post a picture of it later. Anybody have any idea what it may be worth. I couldn't find it on-line anywhere. The only thing I was able to find was that these French coins made between 1915-1919 are not too rare-but my 1913 is.
I think I am going to have to go back when the mosquitoes are not out!
