got out of work early tonight and figured I would go back to the new permission that Matt ri and I hit this past weekend. The house is from 1829. I was short on time and thankfully I found this 1866 shield nickle. This is my first coin in the 1800s and my oldest coin with a date. Pretty cool I like it. Its falling apart so that is it. In the sleeve it goes. Thanks for looking. HH

Sweet! every time I find them they are just about worn smooth! that one looks like it will clean up nice! congrats!

I'm not touching it. I touched a tooth pick to it and it started to crumble. I don't know why that happens.

Yes first year of issue. I'll take it. My buddy Matt ri just got an 1829 large cent this past weekend at the same place. Let's hope we can clear out out before she sells the house.
