Possible beach gold? 6-7 grams on the kitchen scale, dont have a precise enough instrument to measure mass. Ive ordered testing acids but wont be in for a week. Rang pretty high on the ctx though I dont see any base metal coming through. This beach is super harsh silver comes out paper thin clad is hollowed out eaten away from the inside copper and brass is highly corroded.

Is it possible for gold to ring up in the high 30s on the ctx with a 12 line? This was ringing up in the low 40s at time I can't remember the exact numbers on site I dug a ton of targets on Sunday before the Superbowl. Air testing now it rings in the high 30s low 40s depending how close I waive it to the coil.

Some pawn shops probably jewelers also have a machine that can tell you the metal content

Looks like brass. I never scored gold in to 30's on the CTX but I had quite a few brass items. The only way to know is to have it tested.

I found a brass ring on the beach years ago. Thought it was gold too, looked alot like yours. The tiny pitting looks similar as well.

Sooo... did you acid test it yet?

I've found a lot of gold and brass. Being I've seen so many different looking golds come up strange looking, and you being from a different area. You just never know, Hoping it is gold!

I have plotted gold ring weight by CO number on the CTX 3030 at a FE of 12. A gold (10-18k) target would have to be around 15-25g to register in the high 12:30s. Gold rings rarely ring in higher than 12:34-35 because they seldom weigh that much. Some monsters (reported in Sabisch's book) ring in in the 12:40s, but may weigh over an ounce.
