I don't normally post things "twice" but this little gem really made my day yesterday.

The Boy Scouts were founded in 1910, so I like to imagine this was created during their first year and patented the year after.
The fine print on top says Prepare.
Below it says BS OF A PAT 1911.

Love this hobby, even in the winter:D

I have found a few last year at older churches. I have wondered if the patent date on the back is the same as the manufacture date too. 3 of mine have the 1911 mark. One doesn't. Either way I liked finding each one. Great find.

I found some info on this pin on the “Online Boy Scout Museum “

http://web.archive.org/web/20150801...outmuseum.com:80/Galleries/Awards/awards.html

This is what it says about the pin:
TENDERFOOT BADGES

When a boy joined the Boy Scouts of America during the 1910s, like today, he was inducted as a Tenderfoot. Tenderfoot Scouts during the early 1910s received a small, metal badge with a pin fastener to mark their achievement. The pins were worn on the breast pocket. These pins were manufactured by T.H. Foley, and were used exclusively until approximately 1915. Beginning in 1915, these pins were made by another manufacturer. These later pins were unmarked.

In the spirit of being inclusive and diverse, here's a Girl Scout pin I detected this past summer...

Being an old Eagle Scout, I would sure like finding some Boy Scout relics!

Nice find. I found one just like it a week ago. My best find of the year so far since I haven’t even found a wheat yet, lol.
