What machine would you take to the beach?

I wouldn't use the 5 swinging a hockey puck on a beach is a lot of work... like I said a lot of iron try the 8 if you think you can use the 11 go for it. I use my 10 all the time on my excal but could change if I need to.

Any settings youll reccomend to run?

Be sure you either use environmental cover or zip baggie on the controls, the salt in the air will get in through the speaker holes, also watch lifting the coil above the controls if you put coil in the water as water rolls down hill and can cause corrosion on the cable connector. As far as performance on salt beach ETrac works great.

I did the anys book settings it has been working great, the machine is very stable

I will weigh in with the VX3. I have the V3i and it runs great on salt because it is TRUE multi frequency. Ground balance in the wet and go to work. If you change conditions you may need to re ground balance for stability.

VX3 for sure.
