This whatzit had me going..it was long narrow and ferrous one way.. then terminated with a banging nonferrous tone on the other...thought..hmm..sword maybe!..could I be so lucky?..then I dug this..

It's 39 inches long..looks like 1/4 inch steel 3/4" wide.. two small holes at the end not threaded..the nonferrous portion is cast bronze I believe..it is attached with two pins...it has hit marks on the bronze near the pocket or indentation like something was running out of alignment..all I came up with was giant clock part maybe..lol. have really no clue other than maybe it was in motion like a lever up and down..the small holes tell me it was not under great force...

Farm implement linkage?

I wondered about farm equipment... I feel the cast portion is significant..why not use cheaper metal..cast iron or cast steel...perhaps because bronze is not brittle..it's a long linkage of some sort..

looks like an arm off of some sort of puller, like a giant gear puller type contraption.

Maybe a railroad tool? It looks like a long handle tool, with the business end designed to throw a switch, pry, pull, or disengage something? Made of bronze for non-marring purpose. Don't know.
