my dad owns a whites idx pro

he says he found more coins with a whites coinmaster when he had one back in the 70's

so why would a newer $550 (what he paid) not do as good as as an old coinmaster?

he has the sens and disc at P (primary) and the disc at coin mode.

So whats going on here

also what is the best tool to cut sod with?

If he's searching the same areas, maybe he already vacuumed them out.

The new detector just needs some more "seat time". Still learning about mine and what it's telling me in certain conditions.

I'm guessing there was a lot less competition in the 70's...

My guess is that he is just not as used to the newer detector as he was with the old coinmaster. He should be getting atleast as good depth if not better with the newer one , with probably much better discrimination ability but being more experienced with the old one may have given him the edge back then. Probably what he is noticing most though is that there were less people detecting back then so he found more because the locations were not yet being hunted frequently.
