About three weeks ago I broke my first sprinkler head in a lady's yard. It's an old, unused system but apparently still gets water somehow. She wasn't too upset and I offered to repair the line. Went out this morning and had a hard time finding the plug I had dug so I broke out the detector. Nothing. Can't get a hit even though they were ringing up 85 on the AT Gold. I try to find other sprinkler heads and start marking off my 80s hits. Dig one and nothing. Dig a bigger hole and get a hit. No sprinkler head, but a 1905 Barber dime! My first Barber. The owner was very excited at the find so I let her keep it. Still couldn't find the dang sprinkler head though. Trying again in the morning.

That's hilarious!
Can't you just turn on the water and see where it is spraying or leaking?

The system is so old that it has about 4 inches of soil on top of the heads. So turning the current system on gets nothing.
