Massachusetts Militia Buttons

A site I visited last year produced 2 Massachusetts Militia buttons in an old corn field. I went back the other day with my Equinox and managed to find an additional 4 within a 5 foot radius. Any idea on how many there were to a coat? I can't seem to nail down how many might still be out there.

Those are beautiful - do you have somewhere you will display them? Do you plan to clean them up a bit?

That's the plan. I've had really good luck using Loctite to clean buttons so long as they have some gilt left on them. I imagine most of these will shine up nicely.

Those look good, I actually caught a Mass button down here in VA. They came to the area on like three separate occasions during the Civil War.
