Got out this morning at my work and got a solid 11 on the mighty nox right before I had to clock in. In the hole was some buttery yellow. Looks to be an old broach with the center stone or glass popped out. No markings but I tested it with my old acid kit and the 18k and 22k wouldn't touch it. Just to be sure the acid is working I tried both on a 14kp ring (the highest karat I had) and both acids dissolved it. Broach weighs in at 2.05 grams. My first gold of the year! I'm going to try and find my plug that I found the broach in and see if I can find the stone center piece.

Nice finds! I don't think it will have a stone I think it might of been used with a neckerchief.

I also don't think it had a stone. I see no 'bezel' on it to hold a stone.
Believe its design is what you have, a decorative gold oval pin.

Great find though.

Way to go on that pulltab!
 thanks!
Nice find! Keep us posted on if you find the center portion.
I did go back and reopened the plugs in the general area and I didn't find a stone.

Thanks. It definitely had the remnants of a ferrous pin on the back, so I'm pretty sure it was a pin or broach.

I think you may be correct. Thanks!

Thank you Trapper...I love seeing yellow come out of the hole!

Skippy
Thanks Skippy!
That looks like a fine piece of old jewelry! Awesome save
Thank you!
Sweet score! 24k is not easy to find, let alone old 24k. Congrats!
I'm not sure it's 24k, but definitely higher than 14k...my test acid is probably going on 2 years old or slightly more. That's why I did the test on the 14kp ring. Thanks!
