XLT Reset?

I know I read on here last fall how to um reset my XLT. It had to do with starting it up and then pulling the battery out for so long and then putting back and restarting the unit up. If anyone has the exact method and could post it I'd appreciate it.

XLT manual gives the following for 'reboot':
1. Install fresh battery
2. turn ON wait for MAIN MENU to appear
3. Open battery door and remove battery while detector is still ON
4. Wait one minute, re-install battery, turn detector on and check for proper function
