I think your going the wrong way,nothing light about a explorer.good machine,but heavy..All fbs are heavy though.

Yeah, the VX3 and explorer weigh about the same.

Get your hands on it if it's local and see if it is,I don't know how the VX balances. Balance is better on the Explorer with the Sunray X-8 which is about what you'd be using anyway...kinda heavy overall though...not outrageous,but not a feather.
That being said,I have one and can swing it all day with the Sunray X-12,but I'm a strapping young lad of 48 years.
