I went to visit with my oldest son who lives in a nearby town. We detected a couple of local spots together. Our finds included a couple of wheat cents and a 1944P war nickel that I dug. I got a 1942P on Friday in my town. Weird 2 in the same weekend from different locations.

I love finding the war nickels! Many of the war nickels out West where I'm at are completely covered in a black, tar/asphalt like subtstance. That's the manganese in the coin leeching out. When that happens, the war nickel actually can have different ranges of conductivity...I've dug many that sound like penny/dime signals.
