I headed back to the colonial spot I found a couple weeks ago and found a flat-button. I decided the next trip I'm going to put on the 6" coil and try working the heavy iron areas, it seems as though I'm missing stuff in them. I did some homework on this site and believe this was the sons property of one of the first settlers to this area. The interesting part is that there's controversy over the father and something he did when he got here. Finding this home-site, I believe I may of solved this mystery. I reached out to the local college that did a study years ago about this guy, haven't heard from them. That will be all I do though, I know I'll lose the spot when they hear what I found. I'm kind'a hoping my email got lost in someone's spam folder.
It's a really cool spot. I can imagine these ppl walking out their front door in the winter, the leaves are all down and you can see through the woods. They built on a ledge above a creek, you can see in the one pic. I find this really interesting, what was life like back in the 1700's living here. I found where they had a fence, you can see in the one pic where they used iron bar to hold their front steps to their home. I found the 1809 Half Cent to the left. The barn site is heavy with iron. I can barely hear anything else, maybe the 6" coil will help a little.
