A surprising & interesting find!

Looks like a slightly lower grade brass-alloy, to me. Brass mixed with extra copper or tin maybe. Hey, it IS a law-enforcement whistle ("good enough for government work"), not a showpiece or anything. But it's still especially cool because it was actually a "work whistle" and probably DOES still work...and doesn't look half bad.
 
Awesome find. These oddities are the coolest part of detecting. In addition to learning and researching the objects.
