I have found blobs of what seem to be lead in the right general shape that I assume to be bale seals before, but dug a fairly well preserved one last night, Has the two holes on each end and after some cleaning I can see a heaxagon shape stamped on it the the letters "C H I _ _" on it (guessing there are two more letters in the unreadable part by the centering. Will be tough to get a pic that shows the lettering as it's small and only readable when it's wet. If anybody knows what it says, or a database on these, I'd love to find out. Found in a small town founded @1876, ground was farm ground with a railroad loading/ unloading area nearby.
