Tonight I was at a colonial field that I have hammered with ri Matt. We would go trip after trip with slim pickings. This year we all of a sudden are killing it again. Everything sounds terrible but tonight I got lucky. 5 minutes in I hit the wiped copper. I suspect it to be British rang up 77 on the at pro. two seconds later I got the button. I think it is a Rhode island civil war navy button. I have to do some more research. Once I got home I put it in lemon juice for 5 minutes and then used a q tip and I couldn't believe my eyes. It is beautiful. Matt finds military buttons all the time but this is my first and I'm very happy with how it came out. Thanks for looking and HH

Sweet button. It looks to be 2 piece so 1830’s to 1880’s its hard to tell without the back. Nice gilt though.
