Because of the awful snowstorm that has engulfed much of New Jersey,I thought I would post some bottle eye-candy from the jersey shore towns. Some of these were dug while most were bought due to lack of good dump sites in my area.

Once this snow clears I can't wait to detect the beach. I'm hoping for lots of erosion and shifting sands, but for now we are all stuck inside.

Up first are 2 J.K Larkins Belmar NJ blobs with a fancy monogram embossed in the center.

F.J Rible Belmar NJ pony blob (most likely used in the 1880's)

An EXTREMELY RARE Avon-by-the-sea blob top.

Another very rare Key East blob top. For those of you who know NJ geography, Key East Became Avon By The Sea around the turn of the century.

Stratford Inn Belmar NJ- My favorite bottle from Belmar. Although It's a crown top it has beautiful smokey amethyst tinted glass that is really hard to get a picture of.

Wow, impressive collection, very nice. I had a few Pensacola FLA Hygeia Hutchinson's as well as some Coca-Cola hobble skirts, Nov 16, 1915 and Dec 25, 1923 (Christmas bottles) but sold them. Wish I still had them.

Thanks for sharing.

from what I know of digging in new jersey , with all the places to dig , it doesn't take much to start a nice collection .;)

Thanks for the replies!

And sunrunner, you're defiantly right about that. It takes just one good spot to acquire a large menagerie of glass. Rare locals are a bonus!

Will get more photos uploaded tomorrow.

I took some more pictures,

6 Belmar tall blobs J.k Larkins, F.K Larkins, L McCormick, Herman Kliest, and2 Michelsons.

Long Branch and Red Bank beer and soda bottles- Between these 2 towns there were over 100 bottlers. The most commonly found ones are John Heldts and French & co bottles. Rarer ones include Bruno Splaskwi, Lawley Bros, and Bene Mazza. You can probably find bottles from these 2 towns just about anywhere in NJ. I have over 80 Long branch and Red Bank bottles but most are packed up. These are the ones I currently have displayed. Once I get new shelves up I will get them out of storage.

Here are some examples of rarer ones.

Jos Siciliano Red Bank NJ (Mold error, Jos Siciliano never bottles in Red Bank, the bottle was supposed to be embossed Long branch NJ). and on top of that, it has a very unusual phoenix lip closure.

Geo R Lamb, Germania bottling works, Red Bank NJ pony blob

Seashore bottling co Long Branch NJ.( A personal favorite of mine)

2 Geo R lamb and co heavily embossed blobs. One aqua one amber.

Oh man! Totally jealous now. I really like old bottles but they are really scarce in desert areas. AWESOME collection.

Thanks for looking!

And PayloadJim, Arizona bottles are usually very valuable. If you ever find any local Arizona bottles in the desert hold onto them!

Nice stuff bellwood... i use to be a digger many years ago but gave it up back around 1990..most of your stuff is in very very good condition and as you know condition and rarity make all the difference in value. ... nice stuff and thanks for the education ..ive heard of most of those jersey town names but never seen old bottles from those locations until now..

Thanks bootyhound,

And when I started collecting I had no idea bottles from these towns existed too! It started when my neighbor who owns a landscaping business found a pile of bottles in someones yard. Knowing that I collect bottles, he gave me the lot and to my surprise a Long Branch crown was in it! This initiated my constant quest for local glass.
