I stepped on a stingray! Scared the !!!! out of me!

I have heard of carrying the spice "meat tenderizer" to help with the pain of a stingray sting, just forcing it into the area around the sting site.
Not sure if it works or not, but I have heard this from a few people.

Stingrays here in Guam get huge, maybe 5 or 6 feet across or more. My friend went spearfishing at night and got attacked by a stingray. He had a couple fish and a lobster hooked on his waist and the stingray wanted his catch. He said he climbed up on a piece of reef rock and was standing in ankle deep water. The stingray was launching itself out of the water by flapping it's wings. It was gliding up the side of his leg past his knee and flapping all over him. Talk about freaky...

That would have scared the living hell out of me! I think I would have fed the stingray.

just wondering if you always wear a wetsuit so you don't have to worry about jellies?

In warm water I found these very comfortable when the jelly fish are out. Much more comfortable than a wet suit and dry fast when you get out of the water. I also carry the light weight fishing pants in the truck if the jelly fish are real bad. They have saved more than one hunt for me.

Old post

This post is so old there is mold on it. Saw someone say meat tenderizer may be good for stingray barbs. It is for jelly fish stings. If you get hit by one of those barbs go to the ER immediately. Do not shove anything into the wound.

This is a scary post! But very informative. I'm glad your ok and found a neat coin or maybe a token.
