...only to find they're now covered by houses! A week or two ago I found an amazing prospect... an old fairground that was operation during the mid-1800s -- having closed in 1885.. You know, the type of places where thousands of people went each year for typical fairground stuff that costs pocket change (and silver pocket change!) Ah, on can only wonder what's under those houses!

...Or more likely, wonder what's in the dirt that was hauled away to dig the basement/foundations for those houses.

Anyway, there's still a good chance to finding something in the yards of those houses...see if you can't get permission. I'm sure the owners would be interested in knowing the history of their property.

Keep us posted. I live near a similar defunct amusement park from the 19th century that is now occupied by a wedding reception venue. That's going to be a tough nut to crack. (nice landscaping and all)
