I'm going on a holiday to Normandy, France in a couple of weeks. Having an interest in WWII history I wanted to do some detecting in the area. I've never done it before and so I hoped somebody might have advice regarding permission, local laws and which equipment to hire.

The site tells that beaches is supposed to be ok, but I would ask the local authorities, before bringing a detector into france.
I've been told myself that France is a no-go for detectors by danish detectorists who wanted to detect in France.
I have no knowledge about the possibility to hire a detector.
