I dug a hole like that, and the piece of foil I recovered was in the side wall about an inch deep.

What he’s really doing is digging a hole to bury his detector. Ha!

Then tell the wifey it was stolen.
So he can then go buy a Nox.

The guy is from Malaysia. He and a group of a few HARDCORE CRAZY fellas search areas from the old Sultanate towns like Kota Tinggi in the state of Johor and Malacca. THey seem to specialize in hunting the muddy river banks of trading towns for the old Sultanate tin, silver and gold coins. One group looks for metal object while another group looks for trade ceramics from the era (1500's and on wards). He is not digging for a signal in that hole. That they do is find a likely spot and basically dig a big hole and scan the dug pile and further inside the hole. They also use a JCB tractor to scrape off the top few feet of soil which is then spread out on top then scan the hole and the excavated dirt.

Are you sure that's not just an old photo of Mud Puppy before he figured out how to pop coins with his trusty screwdriver?
