Hey everybody, I went out to a pounded turn of the century park yesterday with my friend, and hammered it for a few hours in the heat. It was a short hunt because, we spent quite a bit of time looking for a lost wedding ring, lost by a neighbor of the park. He lost it working at his job, and he gave us the address to the place of business where he could have lost it. It was a newer building, built within the last 15 years or so. So we asked the the workers if we could look for the ring, and they let us. However we could not find it, but we looked just about everywhere we could. My buddy sent him a text that we tried, and he appreciated it very much, and even offered us a beer, or any refreshments. He was a super cool guy, and I hope he finds his ring. But anyway for the short amount of time we hunted this park. I pulled a few wheats, including 2 1909 plain wheats, with no VDB that I can see. Two Buffalo nickels, one dateless, and a 1914. I also dug a 1943 S war nickel. One junk metal ring, with a stone, that I would imagine is fake. And then one gold ring. An antique signet ring, that is carved with what looks to be the initials MBM on the front. It was an 18 conductive signal on the E-trac, at about 6 to 7 inches deep, normally a pull tab signal at this park. And lastly I dug a beautiful sharp 1906 Barber dime. This was not far from the 1914 Buffalo, and not far from the signet ring, which would give you a general idea on how old the ring is. The heat was not fun, but I am glad I grabbed a couple of nice goodies from this pounded park, as it is a tough nut to crack at this point. Thank you for looking Everyone, stay cool, and HH! :)

That is one heck of a hunt! Them old parks are tough to get to cough up the goods but they still do from time to time.

Awesome signet ring!!!

Big congrats on that and the other loot too..

What do the maker markings look like?

<°)))>{

Seen that plenty of times..

Signet rings, for some reason, seem to be much rarer from land, as compared to the general ratio of things in the water..

That's a nice looking one you found..

Thanks man! I seem to notice too, that a few of the older gold rings, seem to not be marked. I don't know why that is. Since I rarely water hunt, I don't get gold very often, but I believe this is my first engraved signet ring. My buddy found one a while back. They are really neat looking.

Yeah on the really old gold, it's either not marked, or maker's marked, but no karat designation.. Somewhere around the later 1800s stuff pretty much all had at least a karat 10k.. I found a ring dated 1890 and it had the block stamp 18K..

Yours looks towards Victorian era...

Congrats on the great find! Nice save on that gold ring and that dime is stunning! Awesome condition, had to have been dropped new and sat there waiting for you! Way to go!

Great finds. that dime is awesome. I should be finding those buffs. I'm flirting with the right era. Do they ring up the same as the Jeffersons ??
