In 1891, near Valparaiso (Chile) there was a battle where 20.000 soldiers fought, one side was in favor of the Congress, the other side was in favour of the Government. It was a civil war ! About 2.000 people died in that battle.
I had the chance to visit quickly the place of battle, I found a few bullets and bomb fragments in less than one hour. Definitively I have to go back for a more extensive search !

interesting Vittorio

Chilean civil war. The overthrow of Balmaceda. Not a popular politician at the time. Commited suicide to avoid a trial.
Keep us up to date with any more finds from the area, and welcome to the forum...Gil

Very cool hunt! I had a chance to visit Valparaiso back in 1980 when I was in the Navy. I think I was even on the front page of your newspaper with my rifle and bayonet marching in an honor guard at a wreath laying ceremony for your fallin soldiers. I love your city. Congrats on digging your history. HH
