OK, does anybody know if there were any US coins this size?

1/2 cent coppers are a bit smaller...maybe????

Canuck large cents...a tad bigger than the quarter.

A 2 cent piece is just slightly smaller than a quarter and is copper.

Might try to get some verbiage off them, but sometimes they are just too whipped.
Measure the O.D. with a caliper.
Sometimes the O.D. never took a lot of wear and it's a decent reference point.
Did most of those have reeded edges?
Nephew dug an 1832 last year.

From what I see....all large Canadian cents had a plain edge. No reeds.

What about Nova Scotia?

Dirty, this is what I mentioned. It had reeded edges. Never saw one before. Dug in deep woods around central MA last year. It held up very well after all these years.
