Default Whites has a new monster T-handle

I am thinking of replacing my Sampson with this.

Good price point, and I like the orange. Not a big fan of the serrations, though.

The customer review from BERNARD WINKLESTEIN was worth the click alone
The shovel cut through the ground like a 427 Big Block running on AV Gas. A pack of feral dogs....(cntd)

An amusing review.

Best review for a product however goes to this guy: (https://www.amazon.com/review/RPUSBNNCSTI4B)

When i first come to America, my english did cause me problems. In Soviet Russia i was strong teacher, my english i know is the best in all of Petropavlovsk. My brother, Mikhail, he say to me, "Nikolai you go to America, they make you rich like czar, take many woman as lover, kill many bear". My brother, he is very wise, is greatest toymaker in all of Russia. So next day i wake up, sell my house, say goodbye to wife and children, and go to America to become millionaire. Then in America, I go to job interview and they say to me "Nikolai, you are not for the job here, you are not the skills we need, your english is poor like child". I take that man and smash his table, i say "someday i will be greatest man in all of country, your children will wish me their father!". That day my anger is best of me. It is then i know i must learn better english, so i buy book "English Grammer it is for Dummies" by Mr.Woods. Now i am perfect english grammer! I write letter to Mikhail, he write back "Nikolai, your english is like a god, you will be millionaire soon! all of Petropavlovsk is proud for you! good luck brother! please send letter when you are president or maybe even czar! Hahaha! also, your wife is killed by bear". So i say thanks to Mr.Woods for his book! When i am czar your family will be spared! Hahahaha! (is joke).

I don't care for the orange color. As a rule, we aren't trying to draw attention to ourselves while detecting.

Yeah - because swinging a metal detector doesn't draw the slightest bit of attention...

A detector will draw attention but an orange shovel would draw attention to your digging.

the first generally implies the second. But, if you are in a field, the woods, etc, it really isn't much of an issue.

Thumbs up

Thanks for posting this. I was going to get the Sampson, since it seems like the majority has decided that it is "the" digger to get. But, it is still a little short for my bad back, so I may just go with the White's since it is longer.

If you are happy with the Sampson, then great. I don't have a Sampson, and the bright orange works for me, as where I dig, it isn't a problem, and probably an asset, so I don't lose track of it. BUT! If I wanted it low-profile, then I would simply buy a spray can of a dark color paint and spray paint it--no big deal, really.

The Whites looks good but I have a bad back so I bought Lesche 40" Ground Shark. It's a serious shovel I use in the woods and fields and empty lots. That rubberized step plate on the rear of the shovel is awesome. It puts direct even downward pressure when digging in very hard ground.

Bright orange is not the best color for trying to be inconspicuous. This stuff will fix that little problem.

HA! I was thinking the same thing when I was reading it...

If MudPuppy has a son or brother, I think his name is Bernard..

I have a Sampson on my "to buy" list but I may be re-thinking my choice. Ole Bernard has potentially swayed my decision..
