I think it is a very rare picture of a ghost shoveling snow in a blizzard. The snow is hiding the shovel.

ETA: Could be a tie-back for curtains.

Can you post a picture of it?

I agree with Gauntlet,
It does look like it maybe a drawer pull with the screw broken off in it.

Let us know what's on the other side and we will have a better idea.
