detect anywhere within 1/2 to 1 mile of the Mississippi River, as they (NPS) are creating Mississippi River National Park.
It will be a major tourist trap. A corporation has taken over Memphis parks near the Mississippi. St. Paul, MN agreed to participate as they were told it would get them many tourists. The Ford plant has closed and the building demolished. Now Riverview school has been closed. Around Minneapolis-St. Paul metro, they have painted over the area they call part of the park on internet map, even though they don't own most of the land yet.
This is for real, so I encourage you to detect near the Mississippi River, soon, if you still can do so legally.
Louisville: most older parks are now under control of a corporation that is trying to get tourism by bragging they have so many parks that involved famous park architect Frederic Law Olmsted. They decided to ban detecting in every park in Louisville, rather then some banned & some legal. Go in to a Louisville Olmsted park & you'll be told no detecting, but would you like to help fix up the park & make a donation? Is Ohio River National Park next?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but just trying to say if you can still detect near the Mississippi River, best do in soon. Best wishes, George (MN)
