I tried three different beaches today and all were still well sanded in.

Tried gridding up near the high tide mark and got a solid 16,expected a pulltab .. 9ct gold bracelet,weight just over 7grams! .. how lucky is that?

Pretty good for a "sanded in" day. If I were to arrive and find sanded in soft conditions, I would not have had the patience you had, to keep going anyhow. I'd probably have left in 5 minutes .
 
That bracelet is beautiful, definitely worth more than melt! Congrats on a rough day turned good.
