I found this a while back in the bay but I just figured it was a war nickel, I was doing some electrolysis on some coins last night when I popped this one out to take a look at it I noticed it had some anchors on it and wasn't actually a nickel afterall :?: so I cleaned it a little bit more but didn't do too much more with electrolysis, I was hoping someone on here could tell me if they know what this is :?: I think it says Havana but all the images I search for on the internet doesn't look similar to this

Interesting but after a look online I can't find a match. Try getting the diameter in mm on the coin and googling that. I've had luck doing that in the past, some sites will list a decent amount of possibilities but still miss a lot of denominations, nickel is 21 ish mm diameter but I tried searching 21mm coins and that didn't work either: https://www.air-tites.com/coin_size_chart.htm#.Wezfp3Zry70

I wanted to think it was this: https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/british-west-indies-1-8-dollar-km-2-1820-1822-1-cuid-1042085-duid-1285630 but your coin looks more like a cross on it rather than an anchor.

Can't say its a great idea but I will usually put some water on it, then try shine a flashlight from the edge of the coin across its face to try pick up subtle images. I've found a little olive oil or something could help too but I won't tell you to go putting this or that on your coin.

Hmm Colonial British currency from the islands? Look up anchor money?

Yea that's the 2nd link in my first post, did the same "anchor coins" and "coins with a cross" of course coins with a cross just brings up a load of Spanish Silver :)

I tried to imagine his coin being the British West Indies Coin but I couldn't see the markings lining up the same with the crown at the top and the side bar of the anchor being where it is on his coin. IMO it looks more like a small cross to me but couldn't find a match searching that way either.

I say it's something good!! 😉
 I Hope your right Brother but it does have the ol wheels a turning so its fun :D

I think it looks like an Anchor, not a cross..... Hmmmmm....... Interesting,.......

I don't think it is a coin. I think it is a token. More specifically, this token:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1796-Trade-Conder-Token-St-Leonards-Anchor-A338-/132339791758
similar indeed but not the same i will look into more anchor tokens instead of coins thanks for the tip bud i may get a bit further now ;)
very cool looking, have you tried the flour trick to see if any details pop out?
no but i am gonna try that when i get back from out of town im excited

Whoa, damn nice ID. Cool token there Romy!
Thanks bud its close but not the same but i am excited its getting me closer to ID-ing it
It may be that style but not that exact token. The setup of the anchor is different between the two. The ebay one has the cross part at the very top, the found one has the cross part through the middle.
beat me to it, its similar but not the same its a tip that i will use though and search for anchor tokens and see if i can find one like it ;)

They have the anchor on them, nice find, do the reasearch and you will find out the year and other info, Earl

;)
