Grinsebring & tinfoilhat, this is your thread to enter your finds for the contest and also to keep in touch with each other.

And away we go !

Three spots today. I worked my can off and only pulled one wheatie. Everything else is clad.

TNHunter and I dug for over six hours for these meager finds. First the loot:

Now the tabs. Wait for it................

BAM !!!!!!!!

TNHunter and I found so many that we literally got disgusted and left. You could literally win the contest off this single site.

It's just not in the spirit of the contest, so we wrote it off for now.

Well got out for a bit this morning. At least I found some jewelry to break up the flippin pull tabs. I have grown to despise pull tabs. I would be quite content to never see another one as long as I live.

In fact, I'm counting these and am putting myself on pull tab restriction. I'm not posting the damn things any more. Do I sound bitter ? Well I am.

Going to have to go to Plan B. I'm not sure what plan B is yet, but I'm moving to it as soon as I figure out what it is !

Here's the jewelry. The most valuable piece is clearly the VW. I do like the miniture IPOD though. THat was different.

Here's the evil pull tabs:

OK if I did my math right:

8/1/08 = 29.25
8/2/08 = 14.75
8/3/08 = 11.60

Total so far is 56.60.

Almost half my points are from pull tabs (23.50) so I'm no longer counting them.

Bang away at those pull tabs, they are unending. It would be interesting to see this contest fall to your digging all those pull tabs. Keep at it, in time a gold ring will surface!

Maybe I'll keep two scores. One with and one without.

This board taught me early to avoid notching at all times. Sooner or later it should pay off with some gold !

Well, since I got pushed off the board, I'm back to counting tabs. Here's the goods for two hunts. I have never been so happy to see three wheaties in my entire life !

TInky check my math and feel free to correct me. I am still confused on scoring. I looked at everyone else and went with that.

3 wheaties at 15 ea = 45
43 clad at .25 = 10.75
20 tabs at .25 = 5

Total today = 60.75

Previous total = 60

Grand Total = 120.75

Here's today:

002-6.jpg

Looks like

1 wheatie at 15 = 15
32 clad at . 25 = 8
12 tabs at .25 = 3

Total 26

Previous total was 120.25

Grand total 146.75

first time out

I went to my favorite spot. The senior members know I usually find 50 coins or better. Not this time, I was greeted with a closed to swimming sign both beaches. I ran into a man with his son, and we talked and I let the boy use the Beach Hunter while I scanned the beach with the dfx. That beach gets a good going over all week long. I know the pictures are bad, but there is a buffalo, and a wheat penny on that paper. Both are in bad shape. If you want to take me at my word, that should be 20 points. If not, I will try another closeup later.....Gil

Here's my digs for this morning:

001-8.jpg

002-7-1.jpg

87 clad at .25= 21.75
1 token at 5 ea= 5
1 junk ring at 10 ea = 5
11 tabs at .25 = 2.75
Total = 39.5

Previous total 146.75
Gil's finds yesterday 20
today's total 39.50

Grand total 206.25

Tink it looks like I shorted us five poinjts but one of my tokens turned out to be a Canadian nickel once I got the junk off. Dang Canadians !

Cool pin Tinfoil!! :yes::cool:

I thought so too.

It was a great hunt, even if all clad. A lot of coins at 8-9 inches.

I can't believe how much my detecting has improved since this contest started. I seem to be a lot more focused while swinging. Hopefully, this will pay off big when on a sweet spot of age.

Sunday evening hunt

Had to grind today. Once the beach opens to swimming, my competition will be limited. Had to work my butt off digging all those faint signals. All the top skimmers have been out getting the easy stuff. I dug some serious holes rounding up this pile. Unless I did the math wrong, looks like 67.05 points.
Second buffalo in two days. yesterdays was about 6 inches deep. Todays was way down there in the muck.....Pull-tab-lab will rule come Nov....Gil

One heck of a nice day there partner ! I bet the beach felt good under your feet after working on the house. You are in some old stuff. Keep em coming.

I'm working my tail off for older finds. Bear with my clad.

I just verified our total at 273.30. Picking up ground !

It's almost impossible to find oldies like that in the water(or sand)out here and the Boardwalk beach I hunt is over 100 years old!:?:
If we get good storms in the winter to take out the sand an oldie will sometimes turn up.
Congratz Gil on some great treasure!
