I found this in a cornfield the other day. The same field I found one of my best finds ever. A "star of stars war of 1812 artillery belt plate"!
The title says it all. It is a solid silver conductor's hat badge. It is hand engraved and has no hallmarks. It still has the original curve to it, to fit up against the conductor's hat.
I previously had found a piece of silver that I dont know much about. And now think they may possibly be related? That piece was a silver laurel wreath and it has tabs on the back that I think were to attach it to leather or clothing? Not sure?
Online, I have seen plenty of hat plates. But NONE are silver. Some go for some pretty good $. Im REALLY REALLY curious if this is a really good find.
ARE THERE ANY TRAIN RELATED EXPERTS? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
