Cancun beaches

Just saw an article about the beaches in Cancun. Last year they pumped ALOT of sand on them and, guess what, they're eroding! I saw a cut like this last time i was there, but it's in all dredged sand, so not too many goodies below the cut.....

Perhaps the dredged sand has gold or silver from ancient shipwrecks. RickO

what did they expect? The entire area is nothing more then a big sand bar... If i lived down there i would sell and move to more stable higher ground. No matter what they do its only a matter of time before all those hotells are under water.

Something i also noticed is they say they had to make a choice.. Ether have a pretty beach or kill off the reefs........... Money.. In the long run its all about money and screw the invironment.

Yup, one GOOD storm and it's gone. They are fighting a loosing battle, but i guess the economics work if they only loose every few years....Wish i had been in to detecting a few years ago when the beaches were all down to rock....

Those hotels have paid for themselves over and over. They will make nice reefs one day.
