I wanted to give my newly acquired Deeptech Vista Smart Plus a trial run this morning. I attached the Super Six search coil to it and headed out to a site that I had previously cherry picked for silver coins. This should be a good test to see what I'm leaving behind when cherry picking.

At a little after daybreak I got my search coil over a War Nickel. I sure love finding those. My next target got my heart to racing, I thought that I'd found another gold coin. Nope, it was gold colored 1959 Schilling, my first ever. Close by, I found a 1940 Canadian Penny.

It seemed like all the good targets were around a little tree, so I started circling it. I went on to find a thimble, a couple of Indian Head pennies, a V-Nickel, a Buffalo Nickel, some Wheat Pennies and some other relics.

I'm just happy as can be with this new detector. It does a great job picking good targets out of the iron and it ran quiet as mouse at the presets. At 9:30 I called it a day headed for home.

Heck of a good hunt beep! What's the coin to the right of the buffalo nickel on the plate?

What a nice looking thimble, I always like to see those things.
Thanks! They always put a smile on my face when they pop out of the ground.

Wow one of the best hunts you have had with a nice assortment of coins. Nice silver shilling there! Great job!
Thanks! I felt like I was doing more relic hunting and silver coin hunting.

How do you like the Vista smart compared to the Warrior?
A whole lot more. The lower kHz works better for me, it doesn't hit as hard on tiny trash targets and I like how the Smart PLUS allows me to lower the iron audio volume. Also the 'high' tone is more like a mid-town and is more pleasing to my ears.

Thanks! It's a heavily worn V-Nickel.

Nice! Looks like a great spot.
Thanks! The mid-fifties home site was previously a old farm field.

Congrats on the great finds and a successful hunt in a previously hunted spot!
Thanks! You miss a lot when you're cherry picking. Detectors like this and Tesoro detectors don't miss much.

That Austrian shilling is quite cool, congrats! :)
Thanks! I wonder how it got there and how I missed it on my first hunt.

Congrats on the nickel trifecta, Indians, thimble and the rest of the digs!
Thanks! I found 7 nickels in all. The Smart Plus loves nickels.

Don't seem to matter what detector you use, you always come back with a wide variety of finds. This hunt was no exception. Always glad to see when your efforts are rewarded. The thimble looks like silver. And those nickels could have been gold rings. Nice hunting !!!:D

If you could get either the 5.7in DD coil or the super six little elliptical, which one would you get?

The Super Six, It separates great and covers enough ground so you don't feel like you're overwhelmed in larger open areas. Great all-round search coil that has plenty of depth.

A very nice haul Beep. That machine reminds on what Scuba say's about the "Nox". There are rewards but you earn them. Be prepared to punish the ground digging all the trash. There are definitely some very nice rewards. Congrats! Trapper
