Hello all.

I recovered this empty case over the weekend and it doesn't look like any British ordnance that I've found before..... It measures about 49 mm after obturation Could it be from your side of the pond?
If so, Do we know what it could have been loaded into? Thanks in advance for your perspicacity.

b.

That would be a Remington 22-250 cartridge. It’s an American cartridge, not military, used generally used for varmint/ small game. It’s a high velocity cartridge

What more could I ask for? Perfect, thank you! Any particular rifle or many? Is my only other possible question......

Ehhh.... any number of rifles can be chambered in 22-250. It will be bolt action. I’ve never seen it chambered in semi-auto though it is certainly possible.

Almost every rifle company has chambered rifles in .22-250. Has been a popular varmint cartridge for years. Mostly Bolt action but also single shots.

That's great and very helpful, thanks again.

The designation ".22-250" comes from it originally being a wildcat made by necking down a .250 Savage case to .22 cal. It has since become a very popular commercial round known for it's high velocity and accuracy, making it a great choice for longer range varmint hunting.

Thank you Sir, more super info!

Wicked little round, with a muzzle velocity of approximately 3800 fps!
I've loaded them up to around 4100fps. Of course it depends on the specific projectile, but it is a capable and popular old screamer if that's what you're looking for.
