1963 Elizabeth De Gratia English large penny

Found a 1963 Elizabeth De Gratia English large penny under some play equiptment at a tot lot this evening.At first I thought it was a discolored half dollar because of the large size but after looking at it closer it said one penny.Didnt know it was english until I got home and looked it up on ebay.Forgot my digital camera at work so no pictures until I can get back and pick it up.....Can anyone from England tell me a little bit more about these coins? Thanks HH.Rob Is this considered a "large cent"?

Unusual find, is it English or Canadian ?

There were 12 pennies to the shilling, and 20 shillings to the pound.

I got one of those in my coin collection,dont know where i got it from I,ve had it for about 40 years, their still cool to have! Nice find.
