Met up with my huntin buddy this afternoon at a local jr. high school that is loaded with clad. It was built I believe in the 70's, so the chances of finding silver coins is slim to none. It is, however, a very good place to test your equipment because many of the coins are interspersed with trash, so its a good place to tease out the good signals from the bad.

I started hunting a grid by the main entrance away from the main walkway, since we've been up and down each side already, and started picking up the clad right away. With almost every swing you are bound to pick up at least a zincoln, not kidding, so the process is slow and steady. I found silver rings at the same signal I get with zincolns (30-32), so I always dig. I got over by this small tree and picked up a 14 signal with my 705. Knowing that it is usually a pop tab, Ill swing over it a few times to see if I get a combination 12-14 reading which is usually a nickle. The signal bounced back and forth from 12-14, with the 14 being more common. I thought it was probably a pull tab, but decided why not? I couldnt hit anything with my probe, so I got out the Fiskars and started to cut my 3/4 circle (the ground is very hard) to prove to myself that it was a pull tab. Once I pulled the sod back, I went over it with my harbor freight special pinpointer, and located the object. When I moved the small clumps of dirt around, I saw this nice golden circular object!

When I got home, I cleaned it up and found the makers mark that is unreadable, followed what may be a 1, then probably a 4, and then a very readable KT. I also found a quarter sized gold colored thin medallion that was bent in half......could be an earring or necklace piece since there is a small hole at the top.
