Imperial London button?

So my hunting buddy found this button about 6 inches deep.

It says "Imperial London" on the back, but we're trying to get an age for it.

It was found about 6 inches down in a park by us.


Any thoughts or ideas on how we could get an age? He's going to clean it up a bit more to try to get more details on what's on the back

That link states that indented letters were from 1810 to the end of their popularity in 1840. My take from that would mean raised letters were before indented ones. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I understand it.

Thanks...that's what I was thinking as well


The county wasn't "founded" until the mid 1800's....which makes the find strange, but not unreasonable. Since people were here prior to the founding of the county, but it makes it a VERY interesting find.

Once he gets it cleaned up I'll get more pictures.
