I took the Bounty Hunter Platinum out yesterday even though it was snowing.
When I first took it out of the warm truck it was going crazy with all sorts of beeps. After a few minutes it settled down and was working normal even though all I found was a wad pic f buried tin foil.
Is it normal for detectors to be temperature sensitive?

It's a temperature drift (coil changes its liner dimensions whilst being cooled, GB drifts and detector produces falsings. Get the coil outside for 15 minutes, have some tea and then proceed hunting :)

There are coils those handle significant temperature changes without falsing (no temperature drift) but they won't fit yr detector

I think it could also be condensation om the electronics caused by the drastic temp change, but I'm no expert.
