I went to a yard sale at an old farm, and got to chatting with the owner.
I complimented her on the property, and mentioned that I would love to metal detect it.
She said that she knew the woman who lived there as a child (and is in her 90s now), and said the lady actually recommended she use a metal detector, especially in a particular area where they played with iron toys.
So the owner said I was welcome to come over and hunt. She also said she had lost a wedding ring and would pay me to look for it.
I looked up some old maps and although the current house is recent, I found the location of the old buildings (which corroborated the location the older woman mentioned...it appears to be the old front yard).
So when the weather clears, I have a new hunting spot!
