Now that diamonds can be inscribed with unique lot numbers and
a lost diamond ring is likely to be reported "stolen" to the insurnance
company, does anyone worry about being charged with theft?
"In addition to personalization, inscription can provide peace
of mind when making a diamond purchase. For example,
diamonds graded by GIA Gem Trade Laboratory can have its
unique Diamond Grading Report number inscribed on it for instant
verification."
There is also a flip side. There is an opportunity to return a ring to
it's rightful owner.
