Can't post a picture right now, but maybe someone will recognize this description: Copper, probably, defenite coin shaped but thicker { like 2 quarters stacked}, has the number 4S on it. That's about it for now. Any ideas?

Really? That's it? No designs, crowns, busts, anything?

4S could mean 4 Shillings. But I mean, can't say for certain.

well here's a lousy { really lousy } picture taken from a cell phone. It is the diameter of a quarter, about twice as thick, says " 4 S " on the front and a tiny little "t" on the back.

Good guess but this thing is copper and the size of a quarter and twice the thickness.

There is an apotechary weight unit called 'scruple' It weighs 1,296 grams so if your copper disc is bit over five grams maybe it is an apotechary weight.
Whatever it actually is it looks like that 4s is hand stamped so this probably isn't a factory made object.

Yes it's defenetely hand stamped as well as the tiny "t" on the reverse side is too.

I have seen them they look like scale weigh but the ones I saw were not copper but they were more modern could be and old one not sure. Howard
