Me and the wife are traveling in our motorhome to Florida. I decided to stop in the Charleston SC area. While there I met up with a guy who has access to over 12,000 acres of Civil War encampments and revolutionary era plantations. These are all private properties which he leases for metal detecting. He takes individuals and groups hunting at these sites (for a fee).
I went on a short hunt with him today and found 2 flat buttons (1 rev era and 1 Civil War era) 1 early 1800s bridle rosette, 1 Civil War mini ball and 1 musket ball.
The guy is a former History teacher and a long time MDer. Not teaching anymore, doing this full time.
I will post pictures when I get home. I stupidly left my camera home.
I am thinking of setting up another hunt with him on my way back north.
