On the way to work I stopped back by that old church in Plaza where I got the 36-D a couple days ago.....figured there's gotta be more i missed.

Within a few minutes of swinging i got a early wheatie signal that sounded like it was partially masked by something.....one of those signals you'd normally miss. It was showing 7" too so i thought there was hope.
Fumbled around a bit trying to find my target which i thought for sure was an early wheatie but ended up being a heck of a nice 1902 Indianhead with an awesome green tone on the obverse.
The hunt was well worth it right there!

I came across a 1920-S wheat as well which sweetened the hunt.... i needed that one for my wheat album of detecting finds.

Not bad for 30 minutes [emoji106]

The wheats here come out toasted :(

Congrats!

Usually the same here. I'd say about 1 in 25 wheats come out in a condition worth taking a longer look. They're usually the ones with the dark green/brown patina that seems to act like Teflon. They clean right up like silver or gold.

Seems like almost every wheatie or Indianhead I dig up is in great shape. It's pretty rare that I dig any with the green crust on them.....must be the nice black dirt all over up here.

There is something about the composition of the 1902 IHP that I think makes them come out of the ground looking like that. Notice my avatar 1902 IHP. By far the best I ever found. Seems like I have seen other 1902's that looked better than average.
