I found this today in a local park.

It is from 1913, for the 25th anniversary of the building of the St. Josephat basilica in Milwaukee.
Since I was only about a mile away, I thought I would visit for a quick photo.
When this basilica was built, the only dome larger in the United States was the Capitol!

Happy Hunting everybody

Thanks
That is a very cool find.. I was staring at it and started wondering if the medal is a Mirror image of the building :?:
Well, I took a selfie, so it might be reversed?
Very cool and nice seeing the building that’s on the medal. Congrats!
Thanks. Once I cleaned it up, I knew what it was so I had to drive over.
That’s a killer find buddy!! Love the pics

Thanks Mike, IMO it beats a 105 year old coin every day:D

Upon closer inspection, I believe you are correct.
I suppose the engraver (of the die) worked from a photograph so when it was minted, it was in reverse. That's unusual...

Dude that is awesome especially with the actual building on the coin!!! [emoji2956][emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303]

If you stand on the North East corner the image is the same. Your selfie is on the North West corner. Nice find Matt.

Maybe there are clues about buried treasure there?

Wow! Just driving past that building is a head turner.
What a great find Matt.
Love the photos. Merry Christmas.

Might the church have a small "museum" display, and do they have one of those in it? If not, maybe they should?
(By offering it to the church, you might open up a permission to hunt the grounds of a building that's been around for quite a long time.)
