My buddy found this button. There appears to be some gold gilding underneath the green patina. Is there a way to remove the patina but leave the gilding? Thanks in advance.

I use lemon juice. It really brings out the gold plate ... just keep an eye on it and rinse it off when you get it where you want it to be. It might turn the parts where the gold is completely gone reddish.

I grabbed a few things out of my display that I know I lemon juiced:
