My son and I did some water hunting yesterday and this was one of the first finds. It has been heavily tumbled in the current. The hollow end is so mis-shapened that rocks have become trapped within. There is evidence of three rings that have been smoothed down. The weight is 27.1 grams, the length is .904 inches and the width is .537 inches. Is this from the Civil War period or newer? Camp McClellan was nearby as well as Rock Island Arsenal. What do you think?

.54 cal Minie

That looks like a really worn-down .54 caliber Minie Ball, as used in the Mississippi Rifle and other 54 cal muskets. Civil War era. Typical water erosion.
