Hi there, I'm a complete noob, but I've wanted to get into detecting for a long time. Maybe it's my mid-life crisis. :laughing:

I'm frantically researching before purchasing my first detector, and this site has been quite helpful (at least in facilitating information overload!).

Some of the basics in choosing which detector is right for you is if you will be detecting on dry land only, or also in water and at beaches, also what price range you need to stay within.

Try to get an idea of what kind of hunting you might like.

Fresh water
Salt water and beaches
