Stopped at the bank and got this

The tellers save me interesting money sometimes. Today, I went in for a box of pennies, and the teller gave me a 1901 Indian Head cent. He said he looked it up and it was only worth "about a dollar", so he sold it to me for face value. That's the first time I've ever paid one cent for an Indian Head!

You mean for selling coins for other than face value??? Yes, they are only allowed to use face values of any US Coin, regardless of age. Some banks' policies are to remove old coin and paper money for destruction or exchange with their money supplier.
 
I think it pretty much counts. Its like when you visually find a coin on the surface when MDing. You wouldn't have found it, if you weren't engaged in the search. Good find.
