Buddy and I got permission to hunt a large yard in front of a 1960’s apartment building, yard was probably 400’x250’ in size. Old homes sat there 60 some years ago. This yard has been hit numerous times in the past. Matter of fact another guy showed up with his rig while we were there.

42 degrees, overcast and chilly outside.

Right off the get go buddy digs a nice old silver class ring. Later he finds a couple old IH’s, two buffalo and a V-nick. 20 or so wheats and different relics.

I found what’s shown including a poor man’s VDB Lincoln. Lots of early teen and 20’s wheats. Thanks for looking.

What did the other detectorist do? Did he also have/get permission, or did he happen to see you guys out there and go grab his gear?

The other guy stopped in his vehicle and shot the breeze about all the hunting he’s done in the area, but has never hit this spot. There was some talk about he knowing the caretaker of the property. He left, returning later with his detector, probably thinking he could ‘blend in.’ As far as I was concerned, he did. Besides, I believe we took the majority of targets that were left (that’s what they all say). :cool3:

Nice research to find out about the former homes and getting the permission, amc! And pretty nice hunt - love the Injun, and the silver is sweet too. I really like that Palmolive token. I see them pop up on the forum fairly often, so I guess they’re somewhat common as tokens go, but I’d still love to find one eventually! The Boy Scout neckerchief slide is a neat find too - I went on a tear once where I found three within about two weeks, but none before or since. And I always enjoy finding Wheats...the VDB is a good score!

Congrats on your finds, Amc! I would love to find a GW, and that '09 V.D.B. is amazing! :woot:

nice silver washington there. Other people missed that one. The 1909 looks in pretty good condition for being in the ground.

congrats.
